wikipedia

The wikipedia assignment that we had to do for class was very useful and eye opening.  I always knew that Wikipedia was not an accredited and valid source but I did not know much more about the site.  I knew that anyone at anytime can post whatever they please on whatever subject.  This means not that there are many personal views and insights and many skewed facts about the article.  There is no person who can check the postings and that is no good.  I also realized that along with bad information, there is no information at all about alot articles.  There are missing links and links that are not there anymore and and a whole more variety of things.  In Wikipedia, depending on who wrote the article there are many biases and personal opinions.  For example, some sites on global warming have a conservative opinion who obviously says that global warming does not exist and is made up.  On the other hand some sites on global warming say that global warming exists and is due to a variety of many things, these sites are many written by liberal authors.  I would not suggest to anyone to use Wikipedia for any type of project, paper, assignment etc.  It just is not worth it.  I think that my group did a great job and everyone deserves an A.  My partners did their part and did it well.  Everyone did their work on time.  We knew alot about the subject and worked very hard on it.

made to break/ part 3

The same issue arises with part 3, I think, than with part 2.  The development of all of these programs, devices, mainframes, consoles and so on.  I think that it is necessary to discuss the consequences of this crave for technology, rather than to embrace, admire and crave it.  I know that Americans we are impatient and needy and I understand that we want everything the day before yesterday.  But, we need to realize at what cost.  Another question that we must address is when will enough be enough.  How many computers, ipads, Ipods, cell phones and other devices do we need.  How much more connected can we get and at what price.  Not only can this technology be harmful to people, it may cause depression, reclusive attitudes, obesity and communication deficiencies among people.  But, the biggest problem is the issue of global warming and the amount of waste products being backed up all over the world.  One of the reasons why I am talking about these issues and the effects they ahve on global warming is because I am doing a report on global warming and I feel that some of the information in the book directly is related to the reasons that cause global warming in world.  First, the manufacturing of these products are causing gas emissions to go into the air to which causes global warming.  Second, the transportation of these products by ship, boat, plane, truck also cause problems and the last thing is the dismantling of all these products which causes health issues to the people and may damage the land with chemicals.  If we stop producing the greenhouse gas emissions right now, it will take one-hundred years in order to for all of the gases to go away and be dissolved.

made to break/ part 2

As we have learned in the first part of this book.  Waste from computers, phones, laptops and other types of communictation devices have began to pile up at an exponential rate.  This is very unfortunate becuase this is the age where devices like these are really starting to take off and millions of people want them.  Unfortunately, those people will get rid of their old computers, phones and laptops to make room for new ones.  These devices have to go somewhere and they are.  The production of all these devices are one of the reasons for global warming and the cause for many other issues, espescially health issues.  Many of our old products are sold to China where they are dismantled and destroyed.  Unfortunately, Chinese regulations on the safety of the disposal of these items are non-existant.  This leads to various health problems among the workers and the native population.  My blog my not be directly related to what we I have read  in the book, but something related indirectly.  This issue is much more important than the development of computers and these devices, but the consequences it brings to our world and the people living in it.  Everyday, millions of Americans communicate with each other and at a very fast pace.  But, we want better technology and we want it the day before yesterday.  What I am saying is that we have so much technology and we are so obsessed with all this technology but at what price.  For every new piece of technology created it automatically makes the old one complete.  Which than becomes garbage and is sent to some far off place.  This not only creates problems for those people, but it creates problems for the whole world.  We are rapidly outproducing ourselves and we are rapidly losing places to throw out the garbage.  This is becoming a problem, but also the issue of global warming.  When we produce all of these items and than we ship them all over the Earth it emites gases into the atmosphere.  We need to be aware of what we are doing to ourselves and the future of the human race.
